This is an old post I know, but I have to wonder at why the poll was only confined to South Asians and why only in the concept of a narrowly defined criteria as if concept of Honor crimes or there equivalent do not exist in other communities.
Also the summation that “Izzat’, therefore, does not appear to be the preserve of any particular faith but seems to reflect the wider cultural inheritance of many young British Asians. ”
Based on this poll perhaps, but what of reality? Who has actually committed such crimes? The actual evidence from suspected Honor Killings suggests it is faith biased although it is other factors may contribute.
I personally have not ever heard of Izzat, I person who would fall under this gross ethnic catagorisation of “Asian” depicted in the article.
